Tearaway banned from his own neighbourhood

A Surrey teenager has been banned from moving about his own neighbourhood after years of terrorising residents and shopkeepers.

Grant Kill, 15, was given a two-year antisocial behaviour order after appearing in court on March 23.

The Asbo bans him from moving through his Tadworth neighbourhood unless he is on public transport, making his way directly home or accompanied by his parents, the police or a social worker.

It also bans him from any shop or business where he has been previously kicked out and orders him not to assault, harass, intimidate or abuse anyone within Surrey.

Reigate and Banstead Inspector Clive Davies said Kill had earned the Asbo after years of antisocial behaviour.

"Surrey Police takes a tough stance on antisocial behaviour and we will take robust action to stamp out the kind of disruption that Kill caused in his community," Insp Davies said.

"Grant Kill received a two-year Asbo for his sustained behaviour towards local residents, shopkeepers and other law-abiding citizens.

"Surrey Police would like to reassure the community that individuals or groups involved in anti-social behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated.

"But we do need the public to work with us and let us know if individuals are in breach of their Asbo conditions."

Tadworth PC Alan Hornett said he had been working on the Asbo for more than seven months.

"I have worked closely with the Youth Development Service and other agencies along with the local community to prepare this application for court," PC Hornett said.

"I hope that it sends a clear message of support to all residents that we take seriously all reports of antisocial behaviour and will deal with persistent offenders."
