A Watford burglar was caught after dropping a TV he had stolen from a Cash Converters store.

Marvyne Mulvey, 37, was arrested and appeared at St Albans Crown Court on Thursday to be sentenced for burglary.

But the case was adjourned by Judge Jonathan Carroll after he was told that Mulvey, of no fixed address, wanted to admit carrying out 15 to 20 other burglaries in the area.

Prosecutor Kevin West said: "Mr Mulvey is willing to assist the police in clearing up other burglaries and will be asking for them to be taken into consideration when he is sentenced."

Two police officers had tried to visit Mulvey in Chemlsford jail on May 20 in an attempt to discuss outstanding burglaries with him, but they were refused a visit. He will now be transferred to Bedford jail.

The judge ordered that the prison co-operates with the police in allowing Mulvey to accompany them on a drive around Watford by June 18.

He told Mulvey: "You have the opportunity to give yourself a clean slate and clear matters up."

He was remanded in custody and will be back for sentence on Friday, July 3.
