A Kings Langley-based glass artist will be showcasing her work at Artistsmeet in Rickmanworth next month.

Ewa Wawrzyniak, of Blackwell Road, will be exhibiting her collection of fused glass and sand casted pieces during Wednesday, July 1 and Thursday, August 27.

Her sculptures are about vulnerability and protection, how we experience intimate places and to what extend memories and childhood experiences influence our need for a dream place.

Explored through sand casting, the process offers Ms Wawrzyniak an immediate, fast, free method of working with glass, which involves pouring hot glass into a mould made out of special, damp casting sand, requiring significant physical and energetic involvement from the creator.

Ms Wawrzyniak exhibits extensively in the UK, has commissioned pieces in collection worldwide and runs a number of glass courses as an artist and lecturer.

The work will be on display from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday and entry is free.

An Artist Q & A event and exhibition launch will be held on Tuesday, July 7 from 6.30pm to 8pm and a Glass Fusion workshop will be taking place on Monday, July 20, between 11am and 1pm, where entry is free but booking is required.

To confirm your attendance at the Artist Q & A launch or to book on to the Glass Fusion workshop, contact Elaine Johnson, community arts development officer, on 01923 776611, or email elaine.johnson@threerivers.gov.uk.
