A Councillor who struggled for five years to have rubbish tidied-up on a section of the canal towpath in Hunton Bridge is delighted it has now been cleared.

Three Rivers District Councillor Chris Whately-Smith met with senior representatives from Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden two weeks ago to discuss the build-up of rubbish on the canal towpath close to the Shell Petrol station, next to the old path leading up to the Southbound A41.

A week later, on Friday, June 12, volunteers from Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden then went down and took part in a canal rubbish clear-up in that area.

Councillor Whately-Smith said: "Unfortunately the volunteers from the Canal and River Trust never managed to make it this far.

"I can’t thank them (Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden) enough. Keith Williams and I had managed to clear a few bags this year but recently the volume had increased even more over last year’s pile.

"It had just become too much. It had become an unofficial dumping ground and eyesore on this magnificent and beautiful stretch of the canal.

"Oliver Greetham, director of studio operations, and his team have done an amazing job."
