Sunshine and music filled the air on Friday as Sunrise Senior Living of Chorleywood celebrated Care Home Open Day.

There was an exhibitions of art produced by residents at Sunrise’s 27 communities, including Chorleywood, and pupils from the nearby Charlotte House School also showcased their own artwork, while a local pianist provided musical entertainment.

Gillian Hudson, General Manager at Sunrise of Chorleywood, said: "It was a fantastic day and we were delighted to welcome so many people to our community. The weather was lovely and everybody had a really good time.

"The art exhibition was popular and the music was brilliant. It’s always good to bring people together and Friday was a really special occasion - these types of events are such wonderful opportunities for people to find out what life is life at Sunrise of Chorleywood."

Art is a big feature of life at Sunrise. Residents have the opportunity to explore their artistic talents during taster sessions and art classes held regularly at communities. These sessions are not only entertaining, but provide residents with new ways to express themselves. Art can also be much more than a creative pastime - it can play a crucial role for residents living with forms of memory loss, as it keeps their mind active and can act as a form of therapy.
