Double points will be offered on selected "Beat the Street" beat boxes situated in Watford’s parks from 7am on Friday, July 3 to 7pm on Monday, July 6.

On these four days, three beat boxes will attract double points: beat box number 70 in Stanborough Park, off Sheepcot Lane; beat box number 80 near Cassiobury Park on Parkside Drive and beat box number 12 on the Oxhey playing fields, off Hayling Road.

The county council's six-week walking game aims to encourage people to be more physically active by making it fun.

Cards can be picked up from a range of local outlets (a list is available at www.herts.beatthestreet.me) or you may have been given one by your child’s school. Simply register the card or fob on the website and start tapping. You can watch your points go up and miles travelled via the website.

The beat boxes are around half a mile apart - maps are available on the website. You have to tap two or more boxes as part of your journey to collect points and you must register your card to be in with a chance of winning great prizes, including cash prizes for the winning teams. A £4000 donation will also be made to charity if Hertfordshire reaches its 500,000 mile target.
