A challenging 100 mile cycle ride awaits Peace Hospice Care Inpatient Unit Matron, Liz Kennedy.
Liz, and her family will be cycling from London to the Surrey hills and back on Sunday, August 2, in memory of a family friend, Iain Churchill, who died in the Peace Hospice Inpatient Unit in January.
Swapping her nurses uniform for slick lycra cycle clothing, Liz, husband Richard, and sons Will and Dom, will be taking part in the Prudential London Bike Ride and aiming to raise £2,000 to support the services of Peace Hospice Care.
Liz said: "I am taking up this huge challenge as a team effort with my family.
"We want to support Peace Hospice Care in memory of Iain Churchill. As a family we want to remember him. It was my son Will's idea to complete the ride. "
Liz and family, who started cycling last year in the UK and in the French Pyrenees will also stage two fundraising "bike-athon" days on tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday at Burston Garden Centre in St Albans.
