The chairman of American football club London Blitz is calling upon the Kings Langley community to help raise enough money so the team can compete for the first time in the Champions League ‘Final Four’ tournament.
Ed Morgan, 32, who lives in the village, is hoping his team will raise £10,000 to cover the costs of a bus for 50 of their players and coaches to travel 1,500 miles across Europe to Serbia.
The competition starts on July 25.
To help with their fundraising campaign, Mr Morgan has set up a GoFundMe fundraising page, which has already raised £5,625, over half of the target, in 27 days.
Mr Morgan said: "When we set up our GoFundMe page, we were hoping our friends and family would be keen to support but it’s so touching to see our community supporting us as well.
"We’d like to thank everyone who has so generously donated so far and hope we can make the final target before the end of next month."
Kelsea Little, media director at GoFundMe.com, added: "Ed’s fundraising campaign for the London Blitz American Football Club has been incredibly successful, raising £5,505 in just 22 days.
"We wish Ed and the team all the best in the tournament and hope they make the final in Serbia."
