Solutions have been discussed this week over the quality of the London Overground services to Carpenders Park, Bushey, Watford High Street and Watford Junction.

On Tuesday, July 14, Richard Harrington, MP for Watford, invited London Overground Director, Mike Stubbs, to meet with him in Parliament to talk about the frequency of and service on the line, as well as raising issues with disabled access at the stations, and overcrowding on peak services.

As such, solutions have been found to ease crowding. By December, 5-car trains will replace the 4-car trains on the line we have now, adding capacity during rush hour.

This comes only a few years after the 4-carriage trains replaced the old 3-carriage trains. These changes will come into effect after works to increase the electrical capacity of the tracks have been completed.

These improvements show real commitment to the Watford to Euston Line by Transport for London (TfL).

When Mr Harrington became MP in 2010, he raised the delays that commuters faced and service issues with TfL on this line. Therefore, he was glad to hear that the line has gone from one of the worst performing to one of the best performing lines on the Overground Network.

Reacting to the news, he said: "I am so pleased to hear that there are plans to run four services an hour on the Watford to Euston line, I think this will make the Overground an even more popular choice for travelling around our area and into London."

Moreover, Richard heard about the planned improvements to the stations they run, using Government funding, including £1.2 million investment into Bushey station, which will benefit London Midland passengers too.

They hope to include better cycle provision, new waiting areas and cosmetic improvements too.

At Watford High Street, a new waiting room with CCTV will be built and better customer information provided. Similar works are planned at Carpenders Park, along with a toilet for disabled customers.

Mr Harrington added: "It was a really productive meeting and I was glad to hear how the service has improved over the last few years - it went from the one of the services plagued with frequency issues, to being one of the best performing lines.

"I think the improvements on the Overground, along with the construction of the Croxley Rail Link will really bring Watford front and centre onto the tube map."
