Four sisters from Watford have given £135 to the Dogs Trust at an event in Cassiobury Park to encourage responsible dog ownership.
The Alden sisters, Martha, five, Rosie, 10, Daisy, 13 and Molly, eight, of Cassiobury, attended the event on Saturday with their five-month-old cockapoo Sparky, raised the money through neighbourhood cake sales.
Other guests included Russell and Lucy Malone and their daughter Amy, nine, from West Watford, who were with their dogs Malone the pug and Molly the golden retriever.
Sheila Brant came along with her pet Lady, a two-year-old Cavalier King Charles who received lots of treats in return for taking on the Dogs Trust’s obstacle course.
Watford Borough Council has asked people to nominate places where they would like the authority to focus its resources on tackling dog fouling.
This will include offering advice to dog-owners and issuing fixed penalty notices in the areas that receive the most votes later this summer.
