A couple raising money for a children’s hospice by shaving its logo into the sides of their heads have dyed their hair bright pink in the run up to the event.

In a bid to raise more awareness and money for Julia’s House Children’s Hospice, which is based in Dorset, Lynsey Austin, 31, and her husband Ben, 26, of College Road, Abbots Langley, have dyed their hair bright pink ahead of their charity head shave next month.

The pair decided to support the hospice after hearing how a family they know benefited from its services.

The family the couple know have a five-year-old grandson named Cameron, who was born with a condition called posterior urethral valves - which occurs in boys and is due to a blockage in the urethra or the tube leading from the bladder to outside - and he is now a member of the hospice.

Mrs Austin said: "My husband and I won’t have any hair for a few months, so we thought we would do this before the head shave to have a fantastic memory to look back on.

"Everywhere we go now we will also be wearing our Julia’s House Children’s Hospice t-shirts."

The couple will be shaving their heads on August 14.
