Residents say they fear for the future of Watford Police Station after the Government recommended the town’s magistrates’ court for closure.
Watford Labour leader Nigel Bell said residents had raised concerns that the Hertfordshire Constabulary police station in Shady Lane might also close.
Cllr Bell said: “There are concerns from residents in central Watford and throughout the town that the police commissioner might decide to close the station in Shady Lane given what’s happening with the magistrates’ court.
“I asked the question at a County Council meeting this week, but I think the police commissioner needs to tell us whether there will be a police station in Watford.”
David Lloyd, police and crime commissioner for Hertfordshire, said police estate was under constant review.
He said: “There are no plans to close Watford Police Station – though of course we will continue to keep all of our estate under review to make sure it is efficient and delivers good value for money.”
