A Watford primary celebrated the end of its academic year with summer themed fete.

Ascot Road Community Free School said their summer fair was a great celebration of moving into its new building.

The new primary school, in Ascot Road, is now fully open and all the children transferred from its temporary home next to West Herts College.

Helen Lockham, executive principal, said: “Together with all our teaching staff, we are looking forward to the new academic year in our fabulous new building. The new term will also see the opening of our Squirrels nursery.

"Our thanks to the Friends of Ascot Road for putting on a great summer fair and to the mayor and all the parents and local people who supported it.”

David Gelernter, chair of governors, added: “We are delighted to be in our brand new school building. We are determined that Ascot Road will be a school of excellence in Watford where every child will fulfil their potential to be the very best they can be.

"We are proud of what our children have achieved in their first year.”

Elected Mayor of Watford Dorothy Thornhill, attended the fair, said: “I am delighted to be associated with this new primary school and to see all the parents and children who have contributed to make today a resounding success.”
