Watford Labour Party members have voted to support Yvette Cooper's nomination for Labour leader.
Members listened to speeches from representatives of all four leadership candidates, then debated and finally voted in the meeting held warlier this month.
In the final round of voting for the leadership candidate, Yvette Cooper received 64 per cent and Jeremy Corbyn 36 per cent of votes cast.
In the deputy leadership ballot Stella Creasy narrowly defeated Tom Watson for the Watford constituency’s support.
Watford Labour Party chairman Mike Jackson said: “I am delighted with the democratic process we have completed.
"Locally we have recruited almost 200 new members since the General Election and many participated tonight.
"Yvette Copper was the only candidate to visit Watford during this election and she impressed many local members with her passion and thoughtful approach.
"Stella Creasy attracted support because of her campaigning style and communication skills.”
Members and registered Labour supporters will vote in a one member one vote election for the leadership in August with the result known by mid-September.
