Record numbers of people visited a classic car show in Chorleywood last Saturday.

More than 400 classic cars and supercars took over Chorleywood Common Youth Football Club on Saturday, July 18 and the event raised more than £6,238 for Peace Hospice Care.

Organisers also donated £1,000 to the football club for allowing the cars to be parked on their land.

An estimated 1,000 visitors attended the popular event, which is in its fourth year and the sun shone on over 400 classic and supercars.

The show featured a wide range of cars– including a 1960 Mini with its original owner, six Jensen Interceptors, classic Aston Martins, Lamborghinis and Jaguars.

Show founder and organiser and Chorleywood resident, Guy Davis, said: “The show is firmly established as both a community event and a classic car show in its own right.

“We were thrilled with the day and the amount raised, together with the support of our lead sponsors DK Engineering and Savills, Rickmansworth and our many helpers on the day.

“With a growing event and a new venue, inevitably there were logistical challenges. We had no idea that so many more people than last year would visit which placed unexpected pressure on the local roads.

“It wasn’t helped by people ignoring no parking signs and therefore causing obstructions, but we are committed to working with the local authorities to ensure that next year, an adequate traffic system and visitor parking will be in place.”
