A bus company has created more services to combat the effects of Hertfordshire County Council’s cuts.

Sullivan Buses will provide new services after many routes were axed as a result of £1.47million to the bus budget.

From August 29, the firm will:

• The axed 398 Saturday service will be replaced with a new route, the 306B, which will provide additional journeys to Watford from Potters Bar via Borehamwood and Bushey.

• Peak hour service of the 306 route will be enhanced in both directions from Monday to Friday, with buses up to every 15 minutes at busy times.

• Off peak services around North Borehamwood will be running every 30 minutes to ensure that all buses will run the full length of the route, and not terminate at Borehamwood Tesco.

• The Saturday daytime service of the 306 route between Borehamwood Town Centre and Watford will be increased to four buses per hour.

• Changes to the 306, 398 and 823 routes have been made to replace the axed direct schooldays routes to include stops near Queens’ School, Nicholas Breakspear School, and Oaklands College (mornings only).

Earlier this summer, it was announced the 306 between Borehamwood and Watford would no longer run on Sundays and a reduced service would be in place throughout the rest of the week.

The 398 between Potters Bar and Watford has also been removed on Saturdays.

Steve Simmonds, commercial manager at Sullivan Buses, said: “With higher daytime frequencies our bus services are now much more convenient and attractive for Borehamwood residents.

“Unfortunately, it has not been possible to replace everything that Hertfordshire County Council have stopped funding.

“Sadly a small number of our passengers will be affected by this, but we could not provide later journeys without jeopardising the viability of the service as a whole.”
