More mud, obstacles and fun is expected with a change of venue for this year’s Push it for the Peace event.

The peace Hospice Care event is being held on private land near Butterfly World in Chiswell Green, north of Garston, and early registration will be available until Sunday, September 6.

In previous years the event has taken place in Cassiobury Park in Watford.

Peter Watson, event and community fundraising manager for the charity, said: "The main reason for the move was our event contractors who design and build the obstacles for the event found a permanent site in Chiswell Green.

"This means we can get them to build bigger obstacles, increase the number of participants and make it more of a spectacle.

"The obstacles will also be able to stay in situ at the new venue, they won’t need to be taken down and rebuilt every year. It makes life easier in that way.

"Cassiobury Park was a great location as it’s in the heart of Watford, but there are limitations on parking.

"A lot of people enjoyed the event there but we also appreciate that for many people it caused disruption to the leisure facilities there.

"We wanted to minimise that disruption which is also why we decided to change the venue.

"We’re still hoping the people of Watford get behind the event.

"It’s growing year on year, becoming bigger and bigger, and we want that to continue.

"Even if you don’t want to get wet and muddy, the event will also be great for spectators with food stalls and music throughout the day."

The Push It run is not a timed event and ideal for individuals or teams who want to challenge themselves and raise money for the hospice charity.

Entry costs £35 and includes free parking and an event t-shirt. The price is to cover the cost of the event only so participants are being asked to collect an additional £50 per person in sponsorship to help Peace Hospice Care raise the £4 million needed to keep its services running.

From the event, the charity is looking to raise £85,000.
