Five people in police custody believed to have entered the country illegally after a lorry raid in Watford yesterday were from Iran.
The Home Office confirmed five Iranian males were arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary on suspicion of entering the UK illegally.
Four men remain in police custody and will be passed to immigration enforcement officers.
The fifth claimed to be a minor and is in the care of social services who will carry out an age assessment.
Herts police were called to reports of suspicious activity in a lorry in Ascot Road shortly before 5.30pm.
The driver of the lorry, a 56-year-old man from Poland, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting people entering the UK unlawfully.
