A man from Abbots Langley died of asbestos-related cancer after being exposed to the material in the 50s, an inquest has heard.

John Frost, 75, of Broomfield Rise, died at Brunswick Court Care Centre in Stratford Road, Watford, on August 1, after a biopsy carried out at Royal Brompton Hospital confirmed he had mesothelioma.

Hertfordshire Coroner Edward Thomas said Mr Frost had exposure with asbestos in the 50s when working.

He was a cleaner, brushing and sweeping-up lagging, and later on in his life he was a painter and decorator.

Sometimes he was asked to do labour and unload skips, removing asbestos.

Mr Thomas said he was satisfied that the cause of Mr Frost’s death was exposure to asbestos at work and that he died of industrial disease.
