Watford lawn bowls athlete Bradley Coles has been selected to represent England in the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa next month.

Coles, 18, has already performed at an international event at the Under-18 Series in Scotland where he won silver. He will now head to this year’s Youth Games, which begin on September 5.

“What a great opportunity to get to fly across the world to compete at the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa,” he said. “I am delighted that I’ve been selected for Team England and I have this chance to progress as an athlete and an individual.

“I hope to come away from Samoa with not only medals, but new life skills and new friends. To be able to mix with a variety of athletes in the multi-sport international environment will be a huge learning curve but it will be fantastic.

“I would be delighted if I came home with a medal. And I think this will prove to be an exciting time for Team England as a whole. There is a lot of exciting young talent and I will no doubt be competing with some of the stars of future Commonwealth Games. Lawn Bowls is really growing and I am delighted to be a part of it.”

Three-time Commonwealth Games Lawn Bowls winner and team leader Ellen Falkner, said: “I am really looking forward to heading to Samoa. There are a lot of talented individuals in England and this is their opportunity to progress.”
