An attempted burglary took place at a home in Bushey Heath yesterday.
The incident took place in Paynesfield Road between 2.20pm and 2.25pm.
The offender(s) managed to gain access to the rear of the house and attempted to enter the property via the side door.
Failing that they then smashed the window of the patio door at the back of the house and destroyed a security metal grill behind the window in order to enter the house.
The house alarm sounded and shortly afterwards the resident returned home.
Nothing was stolen but the burglars made off in an unknown direction.
Anyone with any information or who saw anything suspicious should call the police on 101.
