New affordable homes in Watford were officially opened by the town's MP.

The nine-flat complex in Moor View, Holywell, was built by Watford Community Housing Trust on the site of former garage space.

Parsons Court, which was opened by MP Richard Harrington on Monday, will provide social and affordable rents.

New resident and mum of two Pauline Gomo said: "I’m so pleased with my new home. I came from a hostel so of course this is much better. Much more space and my children have started making friends already."

Mr Harrington said: “It’s always an honour and a pleasure to come to anything to do with Watford Community Housing Trust.

"This is more than a building, it’s a life because people are living in it and that’s makes the big difference. I’m very proud to be associated with it and I wish the organisation every success in building more."

Tina Barnard, chief executive of Watford Community Housing Trust, added: “Many of these residents were homeless, so I am really pleased that they like their new homes and very pleased to see our Watford MP, Richard Harrington open the homes today.”
