City commuters in Hertsmere are among the happiest in the UK research by The Telegraph has revealed.

Hertsmere secured second place in the top 10 list of happy and affordable commuter areas in a recent feature.

The feature cited Hertsmere's high happiness and satisfaction levels from various studies, which included reasons such as the relatively short commuter journey into London.

Councillor Morris Bright, Leader of the Council, said: “It was great to see this article. It confirmed previous findings from various credible research studies and from our independent residents’ survey published at the start of this year – that Hertsmere is a great place to live and work.

"It has a fairly straightforward commute into London, lots of green open spaces including six which have recently received prestigious Green Flag awards, and relatively affordable housing.

"At Hertsmere Borough Council we are working hard to continue to ensure the provision of affordable housing among new developments in the borough and to shape our services so that the area remains a pleasant place to live and work in."
