A music society based in Rickmansworth for 40 years could be forced to close if new committee members are not found.

Three Rivers Music Society, which was established in 1975, could be forced to close at the end of the next session in June if additional members are not found.

Concerts scheduled between October and June will still go ahead, Peter Walters, vice-chairman of Three Rivers Music Society, told the Watford Observer.

He said: “It would be extremely sad because of the work to keep it going and the loss to the community.

“It is not immediately a financial problem. We could keep going for another five years.

“We need some more willing hands to help. We haven’t had a secretary for about three years. Our treasurer is in his eighties. We do need some more people on the committee, but it is only two or three.

“I would hate people to think Rickmansworth is a town without music.”
