Bakers put the icing on the cake at this year’s Bovingdon autumn show.
Bovingdon Horticultural Society held it’s very own bake off yesterday which formed part of the annual event at the village's Memorial Hall.
Preserves, flowers and vegetables were among other categories to be judged.
Mike Leon retained the Ernest Wright cup while May Parker won the Victory Hall Cup for her carrots.
Doug Leslie won the Chrysanthemum Cup for a successive year and returning exhibitor Albert Braithwaite won the Dahlia Cup.
The Bovingdon Bake Off was won by first time competitor Juliette Kent with her carrot cake.
Sue Miller, the show secretary, said: “With nearly 250 entries from 34 competitors this was another colourful show.
“The wet August, although challenging for growers, did not deter our exhibitors who provided us with some beautiful entries.”
