Hertfordshire Constabulary's senior police officers pledged their support for Bi Visibility Day this week.
The police and crime commissioner David Lloyd, deputy chief constable Michelle Dunn, force lead for Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) issues superintendent Matt Nicholls, deputy police and crime commissioner David Gibson and sergeant Steve Alison of the force’s LGBT support group, Keystone, met at Harpenden Police Station on Wednesday, September 23.
Bi Visibility Day is an international campaign which has been marked each year since 1999 to provide a platform for the bisexual community to raise awareness of the social, economic and cultural prejudices they can face.
Superintendent Nicholls said: “We felt it was important that the Constabulary recognise Bi Visibility Day as wherever possible we are keen to support police officers and staff who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bi or Transgender in order for everyone to feel comfortable to be who they are.”
