From feature films to afternoon teas, older people can enjoy a day of fun thanks to funding from Hertsmere Borough Council.
The council gave clubs and organisations the opportunity to claim grants of up to £300 to enable to host events to celebrate Older People's Day on October 1 and Silver Sunday on October 4.
The Aldwyck Housing Group Older Person's Scheme is one organisation that will be making use of the funding, with Celia Johnson Court Care Home, holding a Silver Screen afternoon, with classic cinema style food and drink. They will be showing The Inn of the Sixth Happiness starring Ingrid Bergman and Kurt Jurgens.
Councillor Brenda Batten, said: "There have been such wonderful and unique ideas for events and it's great that we can help make these happen.
"Hopefully events like these will help give older residents of Hertsmere the chance to get together with new and old friends and have a wonderful time."
