A personal trainer who turned to fitness after being diagnosed with a debilitating illness has begun a show on national radio.

Nascot village woman Nana Akua and guests cover topics related to health on LadyXsize Fitness Hour, which was launched on UK Health Radio on Monday.

After a decade of TV presenting and producing on Capital Radio, Kiss 100, BBC London Live, Sky Movies with Steve Jones and BBC1’s Holiday programme, Ms Akua’s career came to an abrupt halt when she was diagnosed with debilitating strain of lupus.

Immersing herself in fitness put her on the path to recovery and a new career in health.

Now known as LadyXsize, her philosophy is that humour and fun are the gateway to fitness and she has designed a programme of workouts.

The 44-year-old holds a range of fitness certificates and has been featured on television shows on Channel 5, ITV1, QVC and Fitness TV. She is also currently presenting a programme on BBC Radio.

LadyXsize has already recorded shows relating to pilates, extreme sports and general health trends for her new UK Health Radio show, which can be listened to on demand through the radio’s website.
