Hospital staff have raised more than £1,000 after holding a coffee morning.

The health trust in charge of Watford General Hospital organised a coffee morning to support the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

The event, which is run by the national charity Macmillan Cancer Support, helped raise money for people to aid people living with cancer.

Watford General’s Macmillan’s team raised £460 selling a wide range of cakes and goodies.

Other teams from across the health trust also took part, making the combined amount raised by the trust in excess of £1,000.

Tracey Carter, Chief Nurse, said: “The coffee mornings which took place across our hospitals were well attended and I would like to personally thank all those people – including patients, visitors and staff – who took the time out of their busy diaries to get involved and to donate to such a great cause.

“This is the second year in a row that our patients, staff and visitors have raised over £1,000 for the charity. We are delighted that the money raised will help to fund Macmillan Cancer Support’s vital cancer services across west Hertfordshire and further afield. Every penny raised will make a vital difference as Macmillan Cancer Support aims to ensure that no one faces cancer alone.”
