The Golden Boys took a break from training yesterday to show their support for Peace Hospice Care.

Hospice Care Week, an annual week to celebrate the work of hospices, raise awareness and connect with the community, starts on Monday.

Peace Hospice Care has a range of events and fundraising opportunities taking place during the week, and will also be fundraising at the Watford FC vs Arsenal match on Saturday, October 17.

The players are set to warm up in purple hospice t-shirts and Harvey the hospice bear will join Harry the Hornet for some pre-match entertainment.

A bucket collection will be taking place at the ground and awareness messages will also be displayed on the boards.

Throughout the week, the community can celebrate the history of the Watford hospice by wearing purple for Peace Hospice Care, attending the Nascot Neighbourhood Grand Dance or by taking afternoon tea and cake at the Starlight Centre.

Peace Hospice Care chief executive officer, Declan Carroll, said: “We really hope these events inspire people to get involved and in turn help to educate people about the great work that hospices do. I have become increasingly aware from the people I meet, just how important this charity is to them.

“Peace Hospice Care has supported so many patients and their families over its near 25 year history, always ensuring the highest quality of care both in the hospice building itself and out in the community that we serve.

“We hope the community can support us in this very special week of activities and we thank Watford Football Club and their fans for their support.”
