A new craze aimed to get over-50s back into sport is being launched in Watford.

Watford Borough Council and Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust aim to get the over-50s back into sport with new walking football sessions.

The weekly Wednesday sessions take place at the Fuller Fitness Centre, Watford Grammar School for Girls, from 6pm to 7pm as part of the Watford Get Active Programme.

Walking football is a slower version of the game with other differences including kick-ins to replace throws, no off-sides and anything so much as a jog is prohibited.

Elected Mayor of Watford Dorothy Thornhill said: "It’s a brilliant sport. It’s for all levels and abilities and provides a great way to keep fit, rediscover lost footy skills and is great fun to play."

Sessions are free. For more information visit www.watfordgetactive.co.uk, call 01923 278242 or contact David Philp at david.philp@watfordfc.com.
