A number of footballs were stolen from a popular football club in South Oxhey.

Footballs which were stored in a container at Oxhey Jets Football Club in Little Oxhey Lane were stolen at around 7.40pm on Sunday, September 20.

The balls belonged to the club’s youth team, police said.

Detectives have released an image of a black Vauxhall Corsa that they are trying to trace.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Luke Mitchell said: “We would like to speak with the people pictured in relation to the incident. It may be that they witnessed the crime or can offer assistance in the investigation.

“We believe the men pictured were with a larger group of males and that they may have been playing football at the location. We believe the group may have used the vehicles in the still so I’m appealing to the owners to come forward as well.

“This is a football club with very limited funds who do a lot of good things in our community and I’d appeal for the community’s support.”

Anyone with any information in relation to this incident is asked to phone Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference C3/15/958.
