There were “torrents of sound and sweet melodies” at a piano concert at the weekend in support of Christian Aid.
In spite of heavy competition from the Rugby World Cup on Saturday night, around 80 people attended Our Lady Mother of the Saviour Catholic Church in Chipperfield to enjoy an evening listening to Russian pianist Alexander Ardakov.
Nearly £500 was raised for Christian Aid on the night, including a special collection for the refugee crisis.
David Peacock, who represents the church on the Christian Aid committee, said: “Torrents of sound and sweet melodies poured from the finely tuned grand piano as the maestro’s skilful hands toured frenetically time and again up and down the keyboard.
“The good acoustic of the church building ensured that every note came over clearly.
“The audience showed their appreciation with enthusiastic applause and a demand for an encore which Alexander obligingly delivered. “Another wonderful occasion enjoyed by all.”
It was Mr Ardakov’s fifth time visiting the area.
