Children in Watford are being given the opportunity to go to a series of free pet workshops to find out how to prepare furry friends for the autumn and winter months.

Pets at Home in Watford Century will be hosting its My Pet Pals Autumn Activity Club between October 19 and October 30, where they will be educated on how to care for pets responsibly during colder times of the year.

The workshops will cover the adventures of a gang of small furry animal characters who will illustrate the best methods of care, and children will also get the chance to interact with the animals in the store.

Store manager David Golder said: “We are very excited about welcoming children to My Pet Pals Autumn Club. It’s a great way for children to learn about the importance of responsible pet ownership, while having fun at the same time.

“And while some children may not have a pet they can still learn, feed and care for the pets we have in the store.”

After completing the workshops, each child will receive a workbook, certificate and stickers, along with a pet promise card where they make a pledge to look after any pet they have according to the five welfare needs, covering habitat, health, wellbeing, diet and behaviour.
