All shades of purple from lilac to lavender and violet to mauve were on display in Kings Langley last Friday as people showed their support for The Hospice of St Francis's first ever Go Purple Day.

The Kings Langley hospice shop decorated its window purple for the occasion and was joined by other shops in High Street, Kings Langley who covered their entrances with purple balloons and bunting.

Individuals across Dacorum also contributed by holding purple coffee mornings or wearing a purple item of clothing and giving a donation to support the hospice’s care.

Pru Murray, communications manager at The Hospice of St Francis, said: "It was humbling to see so many schools, businesses and individuals in our community wearing everything from crazy purple wigs to purple nail varnish to purple shirts to show their support for the hospice.

"Our aim was to widen awareness of the work of the hospice and hold an event which was simple for everyone in our community, young or old, business or individual, to participate in."

Anyone wishing to donate to the hospice can text PURP01 £2 to 70070.
