An art club at a Watford secondary school has won first prize at a national quilt making competition.
The Year 7 pupils at Watford Grammar School for Girls started the project last year.
They met every Wednesday lunchtime, working with the school's artist in residence Sian Fenwick.
The name for school's entry to the Festival of Quilts competition was 'patchwork magic'. The pupils chose to include a rabbit in a hat, playing cards and Harry Potter references.
The patchwork pieces were made by hand and stitched together in a circle. It was finished with embellishments to give it a magical feel.
The pupils also appliquéd a star into the middle, along with the school badge.
The quilt was exhibited at the NEC in Birmingham, winning first prize and a cheque of £200 for the school.
