Watford’s Westfield Academy is holding an open event for prospective sixth form students this month.

The Tolpits Lane school, which has started a multi-million pound rebuild, is increasing student numbers each academic year.

Tim Body, headteacher, said: "Next year we shall increase student numbers once again, and we’re welcoming Watford’s Year 11s and their parents to come and see what we’ve got to offer."

The open evening will take place on Thursday, October 22, at 6.00pm, where there will an opportunity to listen to current students speak about life in the sixth form. The head of sixth form will also talk about the application process.

Subject stands will be set up with teachers and current students available to answer questions.

Parents and prospective students can look around the school, learn more about the new sporting facilities, meet the academy's new football coach and view the architect’s drawings of the new build.

Westfield Academy has also expanded the range of courses available to meet student demand.

Mr Body continued: "We have more courses than ever on offer, including some exciting vocational alternatives. There are also various construction, hairdressing, beauty and sports course available, at different levels, as well as academic courses including a wide range of A-levels."

The deadline for final applications is March 20, but the academy recommends prospective students apply and choose their courses as soon as possible to increase their chance of securing their preferred subjects.
