A community radio station founded in 1995 by pupils at the former Bushey Hall School is set to broadcast again throughout December up to Christmas Day.

Silver FM is calling on Watford students from years nine to 13 to get involved.

The station ran a trial broadcast at Easter, but has now been licensed by the government office of communications, Ofcom, to broadcast from November 28, up to and including Christmas Day..

Silver FM was first broadcast across south west Hertfordshire after the school year had finished in July 1996.

Pupils at Bushey Hall School, now Bushey Academy, were in charge, broadcasting their choice of songs, producing features and ran a news bulletin.

After 8pm the adults who helped set up the station presented specialist shows.

Silver FM was last heard as an online broadcast in 2000.

Now the revived Watford and Three Rivers Trust project plans to also use its new festive broadcasts as a community platform for charities and voluntary groups to get involved and promote themselves.
