Gym goers in Watford have raised £4,700 for charity that matches people willing to donate their blood stem cells or bone marrow to those living with blood disease who desperately need life-saving transplants.
Users of Watford Leisure Centre Woodside and Watford Leisure Centre Central raised the funds for the Anthony Nolan Trust during a month long campaign.
Members, guests and staff were encouraged to join in a series of events including a series of children’s activities and group exercise sessions.
The centres, operated as a partnership between Everyone Active and Watford Borough Council, also organised mini gym challenges, a quiz night, a 12 hour Spinathon, treasure hunt, face painting and a raffle.
Karl Miles, Everyone Active contract manager, said: "The Anthony Nolan Trust is a charity very close to our hearts here at Everyone Active.
"It was great to see so many members of our community getting active for a good cause.
"We aimed to do everything we can to raise both money and awareness for the Anthony Nolan Trust, and I think we succeeded in our mission.
"We are extremely proud of our efforts in Watford to raise £4,700 for those suffering from blood disease and their families."
