The tables turned for Watford military fitness instructors as they were put through their paces to mark Remembrance Day.

Members of the British Military Fitness sessions, which take place in Cassiobury Park, got the chance to order their instructors to do burpees as well as lay down poppy wreaths this weekend.

The event, called Train the Trainer, took part across the UK to raise money for the Royal British Legion's (RBL) Poppy Appeal.

So far a total of £8,966 has been raised for RBL, which provides thousands of veterans, servicemen and women, and their families with vital advice and support.

Harry Sowerby, managing director of British Military Fitness, said: "As all of our instructors are either former or serving military personnel, Remembrance Day is an event which has a very special place in all of our hearts.

"Following our successful Train the Trainer campaign last year, we thought it only appropriate that we up the ante this year, and let our members dole out the burpees to their instructors for once.

"It’s great to be able to raise money for such a worthy cause and I want to thank all the instructors and members for helping us do so."
