A crowd of more than 20,000 braved the rain on Saturday to enjoy the Cassiobury Park Bonfire Night celebrations.

The evening of entertainment included refreshments, rides and a 20-minute fireworks display for the grand finale.

Spectators praised another "wonderful" show.

Roy McDonald said: "What a wonderful display yet again for the mass crowds at Cassiobury park."

Elected Mayor of Watford Dorothy Thornhill said the event gets "bigger and better" every year.

She said: “Thanks to everyone who came along to the fireworks on Saturday – we think there were more than 20,000 of you.

"We try to make it bigger and better each year.

"This year, we had more rides and entertainment for the kids; and our bonfire, nearly 20ft high, was carefully built by local fire cadets and scouts.

"A big thank you also goes to Veolia staff, who worked tirelessly from Thursday onwards to get the park set up ready for the event."
