A new exhibition which features the work of artists, craftsmen and women will begin at Bushey Museum.

The exhibition which runs from November 14 through to February 14 will encourage visitors to re-examine the age-old debate of where does art begin and craft end?

Painter and sculptor, Caroline Russell, forms reliefs, modelled in plaster on canvas with paint applied to make colourful, sculptural paintings.

Mrs Russell, from Stanmore, said: “I have been sculpting for 20 years and first started experimenting with print making in Bushey Museum so it is great to show my work here.

“I enjoy experimenting with different types of work and create sculptures, paintings and sculptural paintings. My main inspirations are really Henry Moore and Picasso.”

Work at the exhibition includes Marie Keshishian who makes necklaces by blending coloured beads into various combinations.

Other works include Judith Rackley who creates mixed media landscapes using textiles and paints with intense hues.

Barbara Rowbottom who makes stained-glass window original designs will have her work displayed at the exhibition.

The fifth member is Rod Sandy of Oxhey Village Pottery. He makes every day elegant objects such as bowls and jugs to his own designs, decorated in natural tones.

Pat Woollard from the Museum said: “We have different exhibitions a year and this new one we have work from five local artists.

“At the Bushey Museum we also let schools have an area where they can show the students’ work if they want to.

"Most of the art at this exhibition is able to be purchased as well."

In January there will be a new exhibition at the Museum with the theme of animals and it is going to be aimed at children.
