Motorists are being warned of long delays on the M25 anti-clockwise carriageway following an accident earlier.
The incident happened just after 4.30pm near junction 19 (Watford).
A silver Mercedes smartcar, a grey Volkswagon Passat and a lorry were involved in the accident.
Two lanes were closed initially and carriageway closed for a short period whilst emergency services dealt with the incident. All lanes have now been open.
Police are still at the scene waiting for the vehicles to be recovered.
There is congestion backed up until junction 21a (St Albans) and drivers are being advised to seek an alternative route where possible.
