With James Bond back on the big screen, the Watford Observer has discovered Miss Moneypenny is not a fictional character - in fact she works at Asda Watford.

Michelle Moneypenny has worked in the canteen at the St Albans Road supermarket for 16 years.

In the films Miss Moneypenny is an advisor to ‘M’ - Bond's boss and head of the British Secret Service.

Watford’s own Miss Moneypenny, Michelle, isn’t a huge Bond fan however, and actually quite dislikes her last name – especially when a new James Bond film comes out at the cinema.

She said her colleagues often call her name on the tannoy and she gets the odd look or comment from customers about her famous name.

She said: "Despite my famous surname I prefer to be called by my forename and although my colleagues here at Asda understand this, they do regularly call me by my surname, which results in me getting the odd smirk or stare, but I don’t mind really.

"In fact I often make jokes that I can’t wait for the day I meets someone to get married to, so I can finally change her last name – I just hope he isn’t called Bond."

Francesca Bezoari, store manager at Asda Watford, added: "Lots of our colleagues are 007 fans so you can imagine the chatter amongst everyone here around the store on a daily basis. Michelle takes it all in good humour and we’re delighted she hasn’t left us to work for the secret service and will celebrate 16 years of not so secret service here for Asda in March next year."
