A nursery received an outstanding result at two of its branches following an inspection by the education watchdog.

Ofsted inspectors visited Old MacDonald's Day Nursery in Bovingdon and Chorleywood in the same week and rated them both as 'outstanding'.

According to Ofsted’s report, the provider and senior management are "highly motivated" and "lead with passion".

The report said: "The staff are extremely committed to providing challenging, unique and memorable learning experiences for all children on a daily basis.

"Staff expertly build on children's interests, understand and abilities during activities and skilfully enthuse and interact with babies and children."

Inspectors also highlighted that the nursery provides excellent support for children with special needs or disabilities.

Mandy Selwood, director of Old MacDonald’s, said only seven Hertfordshire day nurseries inspected last year received an outstanding rating so for Old MacDonald’s to receive this twice is a "fantastic achievement".

She said: "I am delighted to have received such high acclaim from Ofsted. We have an amazing team of staff and I’m so pleased that all their hard work has been recognised in this way.

"We are approaching our 18th year. I am passionate about childcare and always looking at new ways to take our settings to another level. We will keep investing and improving to provide the best childcare that we can.

"Children flourish during their time with us and parents can be proud to say their children attend an outstanding nursery."

Ms Selwood added that this great news came just after Old MacDonald’s began operating its fourth nursery at the Grove hotel in Chandlers Cross.
