A Watford charity is looking for volunteers to help in its new shop set to open next month.

The new Peace Hospice Care store located in The Parade will officially open its doors on Thursday, December 3.

But the charity needs to recruit an army of “great volunteers” to help turn the store into a vibrant place for people to shop.

Peace Hospice Care director of trading Steve Rose said the shops are a good source of revenue for the charity.

Last year Peace Hospice Care shops were visited by almost 250,000 people - generating half of the income needed to continue running the charity’s services for patients and families facing a life-limiting illness.

Mr Rose said: “This is a great opportunity to increase our trading revenue and keep raising funds for Peace Hospice Care and have an even stronger presence in Watford.”

The new shop at 100 The Parade, formerly hairdresser's Addiction, will be opened by Watford Borough Council chairman Kareen Hastrick.

Mr Rose said the first wave of supporters is raring to go, but more volunteers were needed to help run the store.

He said: “We can’t wait to open our new shop, welcome in new staff, recruit volunteers and fill the rails with high quality second hand clothes and goods just in time for Christmas and beyond.

“Before we open, we need to find some great volunteers to help us.

“We welcome anyone who is interested to come and meet us, and see what volunteering is all about.

“Whether you have a few hours to spare or more, we are interested to meet you at our recruitment open day.”

The charity is holding a volunteer recruitment day will be taking place at the shop on Monday, November 30.

Potential volunteers are also welcome to visit the shop between 10am to 12pm and 4pm to 6pm to meet the newly appointed manager Lyndsey Hawkins enjoy a complimentary cuppa and sign up to help.
