More than 40 homes and businesses in central Watford were left without power for up to six hours this week.
Customers of UK Power Networks in St Mary’s Road were hit with intermittent power cuts for six days after an underground cable fault on Sunday, November 8.
Resident George Gretton, 62, said: “It was carnage for six days. One day the power cut lasted for six hours.
“It was very inconvenient, it’s almost impossible to live without electricity in this day and age.”
The initial fault affected 42 customers, with subsequent power cuts affecting different households and businesses at different times.
The longest power cut on Sunday, November 8, lasting from 3.04pm to 9.10pm.
A UK Power Networks spokesman said: “Throughout this period our engineers worked round the clock to make the necessary repairs and have now permanently replaced key equipment.
“There have been no further interruptions since the Friday, November 13.
“We understand that this was a frustrating time for the customers involved, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused, as well as thanking them for their patience while we resolved the problem.”
