A school has been presented with seven Good Schools Guide Awards for outperforming all other English schools in its category.
The Purcell School, in Bushey, was presented with the prizes by The Good Schools Guide, which bases awards on recent exam results and are designed to highlight consistently good teaching.
The school is an independent, boarding and day school which educates 180 musicians aged from nine to 18 and gives regular concerts in the area.
Awards presented to the school included the best performances of boys and girls studying music technology and music.
Interim head teacher James Harding said: “We are absolutely delighted to be acknowledged in this way for our excellence in academic music and music technology.
“This is a very proud moment for The Purcell School and we are sure it will inspire and encourage all pupils who are working toward their exams.”
Ralph Lucas, editor of The Good Schools Guide, said: “Our annual awards scheme is designed to recognise and reward excellence in teaching in every subject area at both GCSE and A Level or equivalent.
“Our awards give individual teachers and departments where teaching is at its very best the recognition they deserve.”
