Watford fire crew were called to an incident in Whippendell Road last night after cooking had been left on a hob.
The crew attended the potential fire at around 9.30pm after the home's fire alarm sounded.
The cooking which had been left on the hob caused some smoke and the property had to be ventilated.
Herts Fire Control tweeted ‘the alarm saved this property from potential serious damage’.
