Volunteer police cadets from Hertfordshire were among cadets from five counties to take part in the region’s first ever senior cadet leadership course.
Jamie Head from St Albans and Ella Gregg from North Hertfordshire joined 18 cadets from Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Suffolk and Essex for the three-day training programme at Waterbeach Cadet Training Centre near Cambridge.
The course was developed by the Metropolitan Police Service for cadets aged 16 to 17 who are ready or preparing to take on a leadership role such as head cadet or section leader.
Gail Franklin, county coordinator for Hertfordshire’s cadet scheme, said: “We’re delighted that two of our cadets had the opportunity to participate in this event, a first for the region.
“It was an inspiring course which gave the cadets the opportunity to put the skills and attributes they have learnt as part of the cadet programme into practice, while also gaining new ones and boosting their confidence.
“We are extremely proud of their achievements and wish them the best of luck as they take on future roles.”
During the event, the cadets delivered group presentations to a panel, which included Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Commissioner Sir Graham Bright.
Following the presentation, each cadet was presented with a certificate.
